Chair Mechanism

Twin Motor Independent Recliner

With a two motor operation both the back of the chair and the footrest can be operated independently, allowing you to set the position best for your comfort.

Twin Motor Tilt-in-Space

The Tilt in Space mechanism automatically moves both the back and the footrest of the chair together, maintaining an ultimate position for comfort whilst giving various postural and circulatory benefits. The Twin motor variation allows further independent adjustment of the back of the chair.

Single Motor Wall Hugger

A simple, yet useful mechanism that allows you to recline back and relax at the touch of a button. With its wall hugging feature the chair can be placed close to a wall.

The Tilt in Space mechanism automatically moves both the back and the footrest of the chair together, maintaining an ultimate position for comfort whilst giving various postural and circulatory benefits.

Lifting System

With Rising System

A rising system fitted to the chair will, at the touch of a button, lift the chair and the user to a standing position.

Without Rising System

The chair will not lift a user out of the chair, this is not recommended for anyone who has problems standing from the chair.

The following colour choices are only a fraction of the available finishes available to us. The fabrics used are to provide an indication of how the chair will look in different colours.

In the event of wishing to purchase a chair we will provide you with a choice of around 150 different fabrics and 20 different leather options to choose from.

Please note, due to screen differences the colour chosen may not match the colour of fabric in real life.

Option 1 Chair Mechanisms

The chair mechanism is the most important part of any reclining chair. It will determine how you sit, how you recline and what benefits it can give you. Each mechanism is different and it is important the differences are understood to ensure you select the mechanism that will help you the most.

Single Motor Wallhugger

The most standard mechanism, suitable for an individual who would like to raise their legs for comfort and for sleeping. The chair is excellent for space saving as it can be located close to a wall, with the chair pulling itself away as it reclines; reducing the amount of space required between the back of the chair and the wall. This mechanism will only be suitable for those with the most basic of recliner needs, i.e. to raise their feet and recline in a single action.

Single Motor Wallhugger

Twin Motor Independent Movement

Our twin motor mechanism allows the user an infinite amount of seating positions as the foot raising section works completely independently to the lowering of the back. This is beneficial for someone who may be restricted in the position they sit due to medical conditions. It will also allow the user to sit in an upright position with the legs raised, which you cannot do with any other type of mechanism.

Twin Motor Independent Movement

Tilt in Space Single Motor, also known as "Zero Gravity"

This mechanism maintains the angle from the back to the seat of the chair as it tilts, allowing you to raise the legs to around the same level as the heart. This helps improve the circulation of fluid and blood to and from the legs. The reclining position can also relieve pressure on the back to aid comfort. This type of mechanism is helpful for anyone that suffers from water retention, circulation issues and also back problems.

Tilt in Space Single Motor, also known as

“Zero Gravity” Tilt in Space Twin Motor

A twin motor Tilt in Space mechanism goes one step further giving all the benefits of the single motor but allowing additional movement of the back to any angle you wish, thus giving the user an infinite amount of back reclining options. This is particularly useful if you wish to sleep in the chair.

Option 2 Lifting/Riser System

Adding a lifting system to the chair allows the user to simply step out of the chair without the struggle of attempting to stand from a low chair which can increase the risk of a fall.

The chair can also be raised to the standing position when getting into the chair to prevent the risk of falling into the chair which can be dangerous, especially if the user suffers with back or hip problems.

The rising system does not have to be used continuously, but only at times when you are finding it difficult to get up.

Mose users are comforted by the option of a rising system knowing they will never be in a position where they cannot get out of the chair.

Option 3 Seating Options

With the exception of the Single Motor Wallhugger, all of our chairs are built with a unique “pocket sprung” base within the seat. This provides a high level of comfort without compromising support. You can then select your own “seat wrap” to sit on top of this base, to provide a sturdy and comfortable seat. We do offer weight guidelines for each cushioning, but this is only a guide and you should take account for your own preference.

Gel Cushioning and pressure relief

For those at risk of pressure sores, we can offer a range of gel cushioning for our chairs to help remove the heat away from the body and reduce the overall risk. We may need to make a special assessment for you, if this is the case.

PLEASE NOTE… Gel Cushioning will only work correctly with a vapour permeable stretch material covering the chair, we have a wide range of these materials in various colours available.

Option 4 Back Cushion Options

We supply 5 different back cushion variations to choose from.  The cushion design will not just alter the look of the chair but will provide different levels of comfort, dependant on your needs.  All of our cushion options are adjustable, so the softness or firmness can be altered at any time.  Our back cushion options are :

Button Back

Button Back - A traditional style of cushioning. This is chosen more for its look than its benefits.  Adjustments to this cushion are very limited so its not suitable for anyone with a back complaint, who made need to adjust the cushioning at times to meet their changing needs.

Button Back

2 Tier Waterfall back

Our most popular style of back, the 2 cushion waterfall gives excellent comfort on the back and support for the neck and head.  Both cushions are adjustable to increase/decrease firmness in the back.

2 Tier Waterfall back

3 Tier Waterfall back

Suitable for those with significant back complaints.

Utilising 3 cushions, each one can be individually adjusted to meet the needs of the person.  This can be particularly helpful for someone with a curvature of the spine where a big variance in support is required at different parts of the back.

3 Tier Waterfall back

Lateral Side Supports

Available on our 3 tier and 2 tier back cushion styles. The lateral side support cushions will give support to your hips as you sit in the chair.  These are designed for slim users that may find they cannot get support to their hips in a normal chair, or more importantly people that may have experienced Strokes and need additional support to prevent slumping.

Lateral Side Supports

Removable cushions

If you are concerned about your choice, we can make you a combination of cushions that you can change for yourself.  For example, we can supply a 2 tier and a 3 tier cushion configuration, and you can simply change these as you see fit. This does have the additional advantage that you can also make slight adjustments to the location of the cushions, to ensure they fit perfectly in the right spot for you. This option does come with an additional expense, but does offer maximum flexibility.

Removable cushions

Back angle

As well as changing the cushion configuration, we can adjust the angle of the back to suit your needs. All of our chairs are set to a particular angle for comfort which suits most customers. However, some users  may require a slightly different angle. In this case we can adjust this on installation so we get it right for the individual.

Option 5 Arm Finish

One of the more visual features of the chair, the arm finish will determine how the arms of the chair will look. The finish does have different benefits, which many people are unaware of.

Scroll Arms

A more traditional sofa arm finish, the scroll arm is finished in material and has a scroll type design when viewed from the front.  Many people favour this type of finish as they feel it gives more comfort on the hands when resting your arms.

Scroll Arms

Wooden Knuckles

Wooden knuckles are available in 3 different colours to match other furniture in your room.  The knuckles are popular as the front of the chair arms can be susceptible to dirt. Wooden knuckles can be wiped clean and polished.  Users who have a riser facility in the chair often find it easier to grip the knuckles when getting out of the chair.
